This of course begs the query “Are enoki mushrooms safe to eat in 2021?”
One way to think about this is food recalls or allergy alerts are not an indication of the food safety status of products produced at a later date. Ottawa, May 15, 2021 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume the Enoki Mushrooms described below due to Listeria monocytogenes.

You might be thinking “Are Portabello mushrooms safe for dogs to eat?”

They are also often difficult to distinguish from the non-toxic varieties, so veterinarians recommend treating all wild mushrooms as potentially toxic and a veterinary emergency. Dogs eat mushrooms for the same reasons they eat other odd things .

Why is there a food recall warning on this product?
This warning was triggered by the CFIA’s inspection activities. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of this or other products. If products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through a Food Recall Warning. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
